oh hello!
nora (they/them) is an oakland raised director, actor, and singer, who passionately pursues visibility, human connection, and hope at the heart every story. from exploring gender queer shakespeare to directing shows that live in between the world of fantasy and reality, nora is inspired to create theater that has dimension and is grounded with presence.
class of '23 at the boston conservatory at berklee, nora graduated with a bfa in musical theater and an emphasis in directing.
they currently live in brooklyn, love the coffee shop around the corner, and all the bodega cats in the neighborhood.
current projects
this july, nora traveled to london to work with the internationally renowned theater company, frantic assembly. directed by jess williams and gavin maxwell, nora was a part of a newly devised piece that was created using the frantic method. connecting with people from all over the world and practicing a new style of movement and theater direction, nora is excited to continue practicing the frantic method and implementing it into their own new works!
this june, nora directed a new short play for cultivate theater projects innagural reading of new works. the project's goal is to be a "transdisciplinary conservation-theatre project and short play series aimed to increase science identity in the theatre industry." alongside writing partner samekh eyin resh, they created a piece inspired by water and urban communities and presented it to the public at the center for performance research.
nora has recently started writing, directing, filming, and editing a series of videos that highlight the experience of following the invisible strings to lead to where you're meant to be. the most recent of these videos is "under blue light," a short featuring actors georgia wright and olive schettino.
